The performance of the spindle unit is crucial to the quality of machined parts and the uptime of the machine; it plays a vital role in machining operations. Spindle designs range from belt-driven spindles to motor-integrated spindles, and are used in a wide variety of machines, from high-speed milling to high-load turning operations. Machine tool performance is being pushed to its limits to maximise output; at the same time, machine operation is becoming increasingly complex. Demands for higher speeds and faster development have placed extremely high demands on the machine’s core components, particularly the bearings in the spindle unit. Bearings offering high running accuracy, high-speed performance and high system rigidity are the ideal choice for machine tool spindle units.
